What began as an April Fools’ Day joke which left a bad taste in Tesla Inc. investors’ mouths will soon become a fact.
The electric-car manufacturer submitted a signature program on Oct. 8 to Teslaquila, describing the projected merchandise as a distilled agave spirits. It had been registered as”based on intention to use,” so Tesla does not have the product ready just yet. The business should really be creating a product to acquire the trademark.
Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk tweeted Friday the brand could be arriving shortly. Musk also posted a mock-up of about what the tequila bottle will look like.
The term originated as an April Fools’ prank where Musk tweeted that Tesla was going bankrupt. He published jokingly that he was”discovered handed out from a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by’Teslaquila’ bottles”
Tesla shares plunged the subsequent trading day and shut down 5.1% on April 2. The inventory has sold more lately in no small part as a result of Musk’s tweets in August around taking the business private. He left that campaign in a matter of months and has agreed to settle a securities fraud litigation brought on by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
